nobody will give a shit when a ford focus rolls downtown. gtr turns necks and make ppl drool. that road was just a small mountain road. gtr was made for tracks and exceptional handling for all weather. theres really no choice but to keep traction control on in those small roads otherwise ur gonna run off the cliff. at the end of the day ppl would take gtr over crap focus. gtr is supercar, focus, a sportscar wannabe family car

@Kamukix I agree 100%. Every road has its limit point which means it can only be driven to a maximum point safely. Taking into acount oncoming traffic, bumps, cambers etc. The sad fact is all of our talent would run out before the cars does. The old saying “confusing ambition with ability” comes into it and this video helps demonstrate that perfectly when using cars in THE REAL WORLD.

All this video proves is that you`ve managed to find a section of road that suits the Focus RS enough to be able to keep up with the GT-R. i.e the straights being short enough that the GT-R can`t use its extra top end and the corners being so hair pin that you have to slow to nothing. Another fact. Its easier to chase someone than to lead. Probably would have been better to let the RS go first with a 15 second start and see if the GT-R could catch it. I for one would`nt bet against the GT-R

@cytomatrix well, it would be rather the same, it doesn’t matter the driver, it matters that the gtr is very wide on public roads, its traction control as the video points out pulls back alot of the power and it costs 60 grand. honestly, if i wanted to buy a street car i would choose that focus rs, then use the rest of the money that i didn’t use on the skyline to buy a car and completely customize it for the track.

i also “prefered” the focus until i drove one..its a fast car at straights and also at twisting but its not impressive.an e36 m3 or an evo are faster…a bit dissapointing to me

I would rather grab the Focus RS as well, mainly because it’s a much simpler car, it weighs much less, and the Power/Weight ratio is probably similar in both cars. Plus you don’t really get much of a boot with the GT-R. Much more balanced styling as well. No matter how much I love the GT-R, I would still go for the RS.

The whole point of the GTR design is that it is a usable everyday supercar. It can be used in teh snow. Yes the Focus is fun – that’s largely because it only costs 25k, and parts are cheap. But to suggest that performance is comparable is a fallacy. Introduce one leafy bend or wet conditions,and the FWD will not stand a change. Furthermore, the driving level in this video is appallling – crossing centre lines, triggering the traction control on every bend. Absolute amateurs.

you gotta think, for the average individual the focus is just more practical in terms of day to day driving. The GTR is something that you treat like any other super car. take it out of the garage and drive it only on sundays

today i spent from 9am to about 1pm in the RS and i got to tell you it is an awesome car, fast, stylish and even though it is front wheel drive it is so much fun!!! however driving in the real world the RS is a very stiff car, so you feel every bump on the road. however when you go up windy roads it is a lot of fun. overall amazing little car, just make sure you get it in BP Ultimate Green colour.

no wonder theres no comparison, they’re both driving SLOW, the RS has a shorter wheelbase as an advantage on a road likethis i must say…….hand these keys to the guys at Best Motoring in Japan and you’ll see the power of the GTR even on a touge-like surfaces. This Autocar show is bullshit!!

@aakash272 Cmon now , Focus RS is a great car but it cant even outrun Megane RS which is almost 50hp down on power , it stands no chance against a GTR its too heavy , Clio RS on the other hand… And about Focus RS being best FWD drivers car? Well not really , its hardly best among production cars , not mentioning that Integra R , Clio 182 trophy and R26r are in other league….
