Increase performance in a four cylinder car?

I have a 2008 Ford Focus, and I was wondering if anyone could give me any tips on any aftermarket accessories I could purchase to add some horse power and torque.
Overall, I would like to improve acceleration.

I'm not made of money anything under $250 would be appreciated.

Remember, I want to add as much horse power possible.

were in the same boat.i got a 2005 ZX-4.i put a k and N intake and put magnaflow exhaust.the intake was 325 on sale.it adds 14.25 HP.the exhaust was 650 on sale and added 27 HP.you can also get tuner chips.you can log onto autozone.com and see what you can get.theres also a place in hollywood that does tuners.there at fullboostracing.com.they have decent prices.

Re-chipping it or a re tune, Cold air, stick with small stuff first this will give you time to get enough money to make the necessary tweaking to the frame and all other components of the car to start putting in major parts, including a turbo or swapping internal engine parts.
